Charming archipelago tour and summer art experience in Helsinki (4h)

Go on a summer cruise to enjoy the maritime landscapes of Helsinki and Espoo, hear about the history of the area, and see firsthand how nature and the city blend together. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to explore the anniversary exhibition at the Didrichsen Art Museum.

This half-day trip starts from the harbour in Helsinki Market Square. The vessel heads towards the Didrichsen Art Museum located on the Island of Kuusisaari located on the border of the neighboring City of Espoo in Kuusisaari. On the way, we pass by various places such as the UNESCO World Heritage Site, the sea fortress of Suomenlinna, charming sailing clubs and summer restaurants, and we won't miss the urban oases, Jätkäsaari and Keilaniemi, neither.

Once we reach Kuusisaari, we will be accompanied by a museum guide to explore the summer exhibition at the art museum. The art foundation that maintains the Didrichsen Art Museum is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year. The exhibition is the most extensive presentation of the Didrichsen collection in the museum in nearly ten years. The unique material from the museum founders Gunnar and Marie-Louise Didrichsen's archive sheds light on the history of the collection's origin.

On the return trip, we will enjoy the beautiful scenery of the archipelago and learn about the surrounding nature. Off the coast of Helsinki, we can wave happily to the groups enjoying sauna and afternoon coffee on the islands. As the vessel sails back to Market Square, we will see the noisy seagulls gliding between the sky and the sea.

Responsibility

We promote equality, strive to reduce inequality, and operate inclusively. Non-discriminatory and participatory activities promote an open, equal, and engaging society. The excursion is carried out with respect for the delicate nature of the archipelago, and the vessel used to transport participants runs solely on renewable biofuels. The organizer of the excursion donates 2 € per participant to the John Nurminen Foundation, which does valuable work to protect the Baltic Sea, so that the heritage of the Baltic Sea is preserved for future generations.

Accessibility & inclusivity

The vessel can be accessed via a gangway and/or a portable ramp. The vessel's toilet facilities are not accessible. There are several flights of stairs to climb from the pier at the museum beach. The museum's entrance is accessible to people with disabilities, and there is an elevator available inside. Group tours have the option of using sound-amplifying headphones.
